Win or lose, every campaign is fueled by its volunteers. And with so many tight races at play in this year’s midterm elections, a handful of Blue State Digital staff spent some of their time off (taking advantage of our new, essentially unlimited paid-time-off policy) on the campaign trail.
They traveled to key states to knock on door after door and tack up sign after sign, and a couple of employees worked at campaign headquarters in Georgia and North Carolina for Michelle Nunn and Kay Hagan. From communications planning to producing videos, they used their digital campaign expertise to support the final GOTV push.
The volunteers came back sleep-deprived and weary, but inspired by the staff and volunteers who have been working tirelessly on these campaigns for months.
To everyone out there who gave it their all, we thank you! And hearty congratulations to our Democratic winners. We’re proud to have played a part in the victories of candidates on the BSD Tools.
Here are some snapshots from a day in the life of a campaign volunteer:

Getting fired up with former President Bill Clinton!
Clipboards and smiles – check! Gillea Allison getting ready to go canvassing with Obama alumni for Charlie Crist in Florida.
Campaign life = not-so-healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Danielle Kantor providing the DNC with much needed Shake Shack fuel. And some donations for Kay Hagan in the form of frosting goodness.
