Digital Agency Expands Presence, Taps Katherine Mackenzie to Lead Nonprofit and Corporate Work in Midwest.
(NEW YORK) February 7, 2019 — Blue State Digital, the purpose-driven creative and tech agency, today announced the opening of a new office in Chicago, the company’s seventh location since its founding in 2004. The move marks a return to Chicago for the agency, where many of its staff were embedded throughout the 2008 and 2012 Obama campaigns.
Located in River North, the new office will be led by newly appointed Managing Director Katherine Mackenzie. She will oversee strategic engagements for a number of Blue State’s nonprofit and corporate accounts, including the University of Chicago, the American Lung Association, Northwestern University and Ford, among others.
With more than a decade of experience in nonprofit digital strategy, fundraising, CRM and online engagement, Mackenzie joined Blue State’s New York office in 2013. Previously, she handled multichannel marketing and customer insights for King Arthur Flour and served as a senior consultant to nonprofit clients at M+R, the Washington consulting firm.
“We’re thrilled to be back in Chicago, a city that’s part of our roots in the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns,” said Mackenzie. “The region is teeming with an outstanding network of talent that we hope to draw from, as well as so many inspiring brands and organizations that we look forward to partnering with.”
“Katherine excels at helping both nonprofits and brands build groundbreaking digital experiences and successful strategic engagements,” said Chief Operating Officer Kate Swann. “Her leadership and expertise are unparalleled, and we are fortunate to have her at the helm of our rapidly growing Midwest operation.”
