Whether it’s your employees, top donors, volunteers, or loyal fans, your supporters don’t want to just stay informed—they want to feel a part of a community that’s larger than themselves.

So how do you make that happen? How is a community different than a run-of-the-mill audience? And why is that distinction so key to your success?

At BSD, building and mobilizing communities is at the heart of everything we do. So when the Ad Council approached us about sharing our strategies with an audience of nonprofit leaders and digital practitioners as part of their Seminar Series, our own Nate Byer, Strategy Director, jumped at the chance.

In collaboration with Kate Emanuel from the Ad Council and Anne O’Rourke from California Hospital Association, Nate laid out three key steps to community mobilization: setting achievable goals, defining unique values, and developing ample entry points. And of course, consistently measuring, testing, and analyzing the results so that you’re in a constant state of learning and optimization.
